Tickets will go on sale May 1st at 5:00pm for our upcoming premiere of Circumspect & La Bayadere.

Circumspect is a contemporary ballet based off of the advice given in Ephesians chapters 5 and 6. The chapters are meant to teach us to live “circumspectly,” which essentially means, “to be cautious.” The ballet begins with “Fruitless deeds of darkness,” (Ephesians 5:11) depicting sin and hopelessness. Throughout the ballet, the dancers slowly turn towards the light, becoming “children of light” (Ephesians 5:8) as they find hope in in Lord. This new work was conceptualized by director, Melinda C. Jacques, and choreographed by she and Nancy Glasscock.

“Everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes light. This is why it is said, ‘wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’” -Ephesians 5:13-14

La Bayadere is a classical ballet originally premiered in 1877. We will be performing the third act from this iconic work of art, “The Kingdom of Shades,” reset by Riley C. Bryson.

During out June 2nd performance, we are also excited to showcase our competition team dancers as they perform their group dances, solos, and duets from this season that were competed at the Open Call dance competition in March and the KAR dance competition in May. Check back to this page on May 1st for tickets to support the amazing Avoda Dance Company dancers!
